Lindsay Leighton, leader
Lindsay Leighton studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire, gaining an Honours degree in Music. Following this, she continued her performance studies in London with Detlef Hahn. She has freelanced with many orchestras including the BBC Concert Orchestra, the London Concert Orchestra, Holland Park Opera orchestra, Mid-Wales Opera orchestra and numerous other ensembles. She has also been performing in chamber ensembles for many years. She has performed at Symphony Hall Birmingham, The Barbican, The Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre, The Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Philharmonic Hall Liverpool. Lindsay has been the Leader of the Sidcup Symphony Orchestra since 2013.
Lindsay is also a passionate music educator and is a very experienced instrumental teacher, working with a wide range of pupils. Her work includes whole class instrumental teaching and conducting children’s ensembles as well as individual and group lessons with pupils starting from age 4 upwards.
