Assistant Conductor

SSO is delighted to appoint Antoine Veillerette as our assistant conductor for the 2022-23 season. Antoine is in his third year at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying for a BMus in Composition under Julian Anderson and Laurence Crane, and taking conducting lessons with Tim Redmond.  Previously he read Politics and International Relations at the University of Warwick, where he held a Music Scholarship and worked closely with the acting head of music, Lucy Griffiths.

At the Guildhall, Antoine founded and conducts the Silk Street Sinfonietta, which exists to champion new music from within the composition department. At Warwick he conducted opera, musical theatre and orchestral programmes as well as being Music Director of the String Orchestra. During 2021-22, he assisted Tim Redmond on Fondazione Haydn’s production of POWDER HER FACE for the opera festival in Bolzano, and recently  I assisted on a multi-national recording project at the FAME’s studio in Skopje, North Macedonia.
